"Jake - Has Bad Luck So You Don't Have To" (murdersofa)

The first autocross of the year was the 15th so obviously the best time to finally post videos is a week later (duh).
Run #1 - 57.74
Run #2 - 54.93 + 1 cone
Run #3 - 53.63
Run #4 - 52.88
Run #5 - 51.43 + 1 cone
Run #6 - 51.25
I must have had my shit together on this one. Wasn't able to match this time the rest of the day.
Run #7 - 52.3
Run #8 - 52.09
Run #9 - 52.04
The Murdersofa is actually quite competent with the mods I've done (Intake, exhaust, 91-octane tune, transmission tune, upgraded rear shocks, upgraded front and rear sway bars, wide low-profile tires) and the sway bars reduced body roll a TON.

The best part is how plush and comfortable the interior looks. Bros with minimum cushion racing seats getting their spines wrecked while you're gliding around the track in comfort.

Clean and consistent. I was genuinely surprised at how balanced it seems.

There was one guy there that had an STi with a 10 point cage, Recaro seats, Recaro steering wheel, and four point harnesses.
He daily drives it.
He wanted very badly to ride in the Sofa XD

Thanks! I'm very pleased. Honestly the LeSabre is a pretty damn slim and lightweight car for what it is. Compare to its far smaller cousin the 2000 Buick Regal, which is only 180-ish pounds less. Or a Mustang GT, which weighs about the same. Or a Dodge Charger which is 500 pounds heavier . People say it's a boat that can't possibly handle well but it has four-wheel independent Macpherson struts and a decent chance. I'm still using stock 230,000-mile-old springs, even.

Not bad for a $20 exhaust, lol

should have let him take a nap in the back seat during one of your runs. Your back seats probably have better cushions than his bed at home.

Now I REALLY want to hit the auto X with my SHO. Maybe the arm drop drags too.

Nice! I'm kind of surprised that there's actually that much many modification support for the murdersofa lol. Does it have the 3800 series engine that was in everything GM made for a while? Forgive me, I'm not overly knowledgable of many Buicks :)

Modification support, as it were, is zero. Here's a list of where the parts were from or what they were intended for:
Intake: Off of a friend's 700hp twin-turbo Dodge Stealth
Exhaust: $30 glasspack I welded into place
Tune: Intended for a Pontiac Bonneville, which shares a platform and engine (Buick 3800 Series 2) with my car
Rear struts: Intended for towing heavy loads
Tires/wheels: Craigslist-found knockoff Ziniks with 245R18 rubber. Directional, staggered aspect ratio. Summer tires on the back, all-seasons on front (lots of fun in snow)
Rear sway bar: Taken from a Cadillac SeVille STS with the 'Sport Handling' package, known as the FE3 package. Heaviest rear sway bar GM made for the platform (Buick LeSabre, Buick Park Avenue, Pontiac Bonneville, Oldsmobile Aurora, and the Cadillac DeVill are all based off of the Cadillac SeVille's platform).
Front sway bar: Taken from a Pontiac Bonneville GXP. Known as FE5 or F41, this solid sway bar is also the stiffest made for the platform.
That's about it. Any further mods to help acceleration (such as supercharging) would be prohibitively expensive (ok, like $500 but still) and not help at autocross. The only other handling mods I could do involve cutting up some struts and making a set of DIY adjustable coilovers using a sleeve and springs from another car, but unless I get custom shock inserts ($$$$$$) the ride will be crap, and I don't really trust my fabrication skills enough to do suspension work.

Lol that's pretty awesome! Sometimes you gotta improvise to improve you car. I worry about buying a car without some sort of modification support, my skills only extend so far (who am I kidding, anything I do would most likely result in screwing up my car if not provided with instructions).

60% of the time when I work on my car I screw up. Fortunately it's never *that* bad and I learn something in the process.

Good call, that just means 40% of the time, it works every time!
